A classic Christmas movie is coming to life this week.
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical" will be on stage at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center.
The musical is based on the 1960s movie complete with the same songs and characters with realistic costumes. Broken Arrow PAC Director Kim Vento says the story of Rudolph is full of life lessons. She says that includes being a misfit then finding your place and pursuing your dreams no matter what society's telling you.
Through a tour program, Broken Arrow elementary students got to do a craft where they wrote down two things they love
about themselves.
Vento says it connects kids to the show.
"We wanted it to be affordable for the families. So, we just really feel like this is important, that we get families in the theater and do things together,” Vento said.
"Just that experience of going to a show. You never forget that. When you go to your first Broadway show and walk in and just see the stage and then the lights and the sound. It’s a great family experience for everybody to come together and experience that together,” ARTSOK Vice President Adam Foreman said.
The show is happening at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available online or at the box office. Tickets for students 17 and under are only $10. For the student discount, you must call the box office at 918-259-5778 or purchase tickets in person.
