The Moore Fire Department is using a soon-to-be-demolished home for training. The deputy chief describes the opportunity as “quite rare.”
“We are probably able to rehearse almost all the things that we need to do,” said Ryan Marlar. “We are doing some hose stretches, putting water down the hallways, we are doing searches for victims.”
The home on Northeast 27th St. will be demolished next month.
As the demolition date gets closer, the department will be practicing more destructive procedures like tearing holes in the ceiling.
“This is as close as we can get to the real deal. There's nothing that strengthens camaraderie aspect than training together and doing the real work together,” Marlar said.
