Hundreds of Tulsans now have food and groceries after a grocery giveaway this morning.
The event was at the Oasis Fresh Market and the goal was to spread love during the Holiday season.
"We just want to come out here and help," said Bill Scheer, Pastor at Guts Church.
Pastor Bill Scheer said he and the owner of Oasis Fresh Market had an idea -- to give away groceries.
And two weeks later the idea came to fruition.
"The next thing you know there's a line around the building and we're giving out hot dogs and hot chocolate and just loving on people," said Scheer.
On Saturday, everyone in line was given 100-dollar gift cards to purchase any groceries they needed -- not just limited to food.
Shoppers could purchase food, cleaning items, and even diapers if they needed.
Pastor Scheer said the decision to give back was easy because the world has a lot of problems, but a huge one, is the lack of love.
So, he wanted to take the steps to spread a little bit of love a week ahead of Christmas.
"We make things so hard we overthink everything. It's like, you know what? Let's just go help out," said Scheer.
As shoppers browsed the store, they had helpers who helped shop, bag the groceries and even load groceries into the car.
Those volunteers say they do it because they have a mission -- to help people win.
"It says it on the back of our shirts. It says it when you walk on campus. We're just a church and a people who help people win. So, that's the message. Whatever people need, we're here to help," said Lorenzo Thomas, a volunteer at this morning's event
They also say it's also about spreading a special message.
"So, if that's just the one thing we can do for someone today and then be able to tell them God loves you and he has a plan for you and that we see you and we're here for you then it was a good day," said Katy Schmelz, another volunteer this morning.
