Changes are coming soon to an empty lot in downtown Jenks.
City leaders hope developers can put restaurants and retail on the 4 acre lot.
Tulsa County previously planned to build a library on the empty lot. Instead, the land was sold to the city of Jenks in December of 2020.
Jenks Mayor, Cory Box, hopes developers will design something that offers space for new restaurants, offices, and maybe even some apartments.
"We can control it’s destiny. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to really make Main Street look new again. And of course, bring good opportunities for our residents to have offices, and a place to live and potentially nice places to eat. So this is exactly what we’ve hoped for," said Mayor Box.
He said he hopes to start narrowing down some of the development ideas and finalizing plans by March 2022.
