At OSU Medical Center, News On 6 said, "Thank you" to some of our healthcare workers by treating them to lunch.
For just a moment on February 14, about 500 employees at OSU Medical Center were able to step away from hospital beds and busy hallways, to sit down for lunch.
"Lunch from Chik-fil-A, it just makes our day,” Point of Care Coordinator, Kayla Cunningham said.
"Just give us energy for the day and keep us going,” LPN Megan Mackay said.
Oklahoma's Own Amy Avery and Brooke Griffin, along with our marketing team, helped give away chicken sandwiches to the men and women who have been diligently fighting the pandemic for about two years.
"It's been very draining on our medical staff, who are accustomed to saving lives and have had so many people come down with COVID,” OSU Medical Center President, Finny Mathew said. “It's been hard from an infectious control standpoint and from keeping everyone healthy, including the public and our own staff."
Mathew said Monday’s lunch offered so much more than a meal.
"So we're able to have some fellowship and spend some time with each other,” Mathew said.
"It's just the token of gratitude, and I don't feel like we always get them, so it goes really far for us,” Cunningham said.
News On 6 has also stopped by Cleveland Area Hospital and St. Francis in both Tulsa and Muskogee to show our appreciation.
