BurnCo Barbeque's Downtown Tulsa Location Destroyed By Overnight Fire

From up above, with daylight shining down, the full extent of the damage at BurnCo Barbeque is on full display.

The roof is gone, the inside is full of mangled, burned debris. This is the aftermath of a fast-moving fire that spread through the restaurant.

"There's a lot of damage,” said Andy Little, with TPD. “I would say that's not unthinkable that it is a total loss."

Firefighters were called to the building at 18th and Boston near downtown around 10:30 on Wednesday night.

"There was no fire or smoke in the actual restaurant area,” said Little. “It was above the ceiling and below the roof."

Firefighters say the nearly 100-year building burned quickly, but they were able to stop the flames from spreading to nearby businesses. Nobody was injured and the cause is not yet known. On Thursday, the clean-up just started.

"We'll rebuild BurnCo. It will be back," said Joe Hull.

 Joe Hull is the property owner for the building and while a lot has been lost, they were able to find a leather bag with BurnCo's earnings from yesterday that survived. He says it'll be a long recovery and he's asking the community to help out if they can.

 "If you can support them…they truly are a Tulsa flavor,” said Hull. “People travel from all over the country to come to BurnCo Barbeque because it's truly the best."

BurnCo's Jenks location was closed on Thursday, but they posted a sign on the door saying, "We'll be Back".

And posting on Instagram - "now when we said “burnco”...that's not what we meant."

And on a serious note "thank you for kind words Tulsa. Truly devastating…" and "Tulsa Fire Department, we love you"

Several other nearby businesses have made posts as well offering support.

FarmBar which is next door had some smoke and water damage and it will be closed through this weekend.

Delesandro's also has a little damage, but that restaurant is open again on Thursday.
