Tuesday is opening day for the Tulsa Drillers and leaders say it’s the first normal one in nearly three years.
The gates at ONEOK Field will open at 6 p.m. for the first home game of the season, but don’t you worry, if you can’t make it tonight there are 68 more home games left.
For the first time since the 2019 season, the Tulsa Drillers are beginning what they are calling a normal season today. The 2022 season is packed full with 138 games total and 69 of those are home.
To check out the Driller’s schedule, head to TulsaDrillers.com.
The team has already played three away games, bringing home a win for each game. They say they are excited to begin the homes games on a hot streak.
On Friday night there will be a parade of the local youth baseball leagues and the first couple thousand people in the gates will get a free rally towel.
The stadium has brand new field lighting and the Drillers are excited to announce there are several new menu options for fans such as sandwiches, shaved ice, and a bunch of dessert options this season.
This year, 20 out of 26 players are returning from last year; Drillers President Mike Melega tells us that roster gives the team a strong bond and a stronger chance at winning.
“It’s great, it’s killer, it’s hard to believe it’s been three years,” Melega said. “2019 opening day was really the last time we said we have a full season ahead of us, nobody is really acting as cautiously with the pandemic as the last two seasons so it’s exciting.”
You can buy your tickets online at TulsaDrillers.com and if there is ever a game that is rained out, keep those tickets and you can use them at any future regular-season home game.
