A suspect is in custody and one woman is dead after a hours-long hostage situation and police standoff. Police say the suspect shot at first responders multiple times through his doors and windows during the four hour standoff, before officers shot him in the shoulder and arrested him.

At one point, every available officer in the Mingo Valley division was on the scene, along with firefighters, paramedics and the special ops team.

The incident started when the suspect shot a man three times, police said. That victim banged on people's doors for help, said police.

The victim told police that he was trying to get into a house to help one of his family members. He said when he arrived at the house, someone shot him.

Officers said when they approached the house, the suspect shot at them from inside, hitting an officer's hand with a ricochet. Hours later, the suspect shot out a window and stood in a doorway, which is when police shot him in the shoulder before giving him aid and taking him to the hospital, officers said.

Police then found the woman dead inside the home. She had likely been dead for some time, according to police.

Officers said they didn't make entry during the standoff because they didn't want to risk escalating the situation. Neighbors said they're unnerved by the entire incident.

"It's a little unsettling you know to be right here," said a neighbor. "I'm shocked and concerned," one neighbor said. "Scared and frustrated," said another neighbor.

"It's been a tough week, so this is, don't know what's going on in Tulsa this week but it's chaotic and hopefully this isn't a sign to what's to come this summer," said Capt. Richard Meulenberg, TPD.
