Local brewers are coming together on Saturday to support the Gilcrease Museum, which is closed while undergoing A major renovation.
The event is called "Brewed for Gilcrease."
"I'm really excited to sort of get Gilcrease back out there in the community. We haven't had a large event like this since June, right before the museum closed,” said Garrett Gibson with Gilcrease Museum.
Gibson says the demolition is complete and crews will break ground on the new building next month. This benefit is to support operations during construction.
"We love Gilcrease Museum and any chance we can get to really interact with the public and create fun one-off beers like this, in all honesty, it's just fun,” said Jonathan Neff, NEFF Brewing CEO and Head Brewer.
There will be live music, food, and unlimited beer tastings. NEFF Brewing is one of the 10 breweries behind the benefit at the Tulsa Historical Society. Neff says this New England IPA is a limited edition, inspired by Gilcrease.
"It's a hazy, double IPA, double dry-hopped with cashmere, Belma, and sabro hops,” Neff said.
He says it's a berries-and-cream flavor with hints of tropical fruit.
"We're all big fans of the craft beer scene here in Tulsa, and sort of merging that with the mission of the Gilcrease is just really exciting for us,” Gibson said.
Gibson expects the museum to reopen in two to three years.
