Oklahoma regulators held a public comment hearing Thursday on a proposed 9% rate hike for OG&E customers.

The utility is seeking a 9% increase, which would result in roughly $10 per month for the average residential customer, according to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission

Commissioners heard from more than 20 members of the public, representatives of the United Way, the Oklahoma Petroleum Alliance and others.

A spokesperson for OG&E said the increase will “improve the customer experience by reducing the number and duration of outages, while also modernizing the system.”

Among the speakers, most opposed the proposed increase. Some did not take a stance either for or against it.

The commission will formally consider the case at a June 14 hearing. A decision is expected later this summer.

Due to an issue with the Zoom link, the commission will schedule a second public comment hearing.
