A new group in downtown Oklahoma City is hoping to keep the area a little cleaner and even safer.

The Green Team is all about providing cleaning and safety services, especially to popular destinations like Bricktown.

The Green Team Launched earlier this year, and before it was formed downtown, would usually bring outside contractors to keep the area clean.

The Green Team is an in-house program managed by Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership and it will cover around 1.5 square miles of downtown including areas like Bricktown, Automobile Alley and Deep Deuce.

It will have a wide variety of services from graffiti removal to street vacuuming and even local business check-ins.

"Being able to show the impact and have the statistics behind what the Green Team does and what the business improvement district does to keep downtown clean is really important," said Phi Nguyen from Downtown OKC Partnership.

The Green Team has already been putting in work so far this year, having already swept more than 1600 blocks of curb line and emptied more than 1300 trash bags.
