Local businesses are coming together to raise money for the Saint Francis Strong Fund set up by the Tulsa Community Foundation.

This initiative comes after a gunman shot and killed four people inside Saint Francis Hospital’s Natalie Building last week.

In the wake of the mass shooting, Mayor GT Bynum said no other community rallies together like Tulsans and this week that is being proven yet again.

Whether you’ve lived in the Tulsa community your whole life, or you’re someone watching the heartbreak unfold in Tulsa from afar, Matthew Vasquez with Secret Garden Candles said Saint Francis Hospital now has a place in so many hearts.

“That’s the building my son was born in, the building I’ve gone to when I was sick, it’s the building I’ve been to see many people celebrating life,” Vasquez said. “That building means so many different things to different people and this day it meant the same thing to everybody.”

That’s why two local business owners decided to launch merchandise to benefit the victim’s families from last week’s mass shooting at Saint Francis.

Cole Cunningham with Mythic Press said they are happy to do something.

“This was an opportunity, we are able to do a little bit of good and help not only the victims but the community heal,” Cunningham said.

Mythic Press is making “Saint Francis Strong” t-shirts as a way to jump into action the best way they knew how.

“We really are excited to see the shirts out there to unify the Tulsa community and bring people together at this time,” Cunningham said.

Vasquez said his team needed to channel their grief and shock into something helpful as well.

“How can I help, what can I do?’ we were asking the same questions,” Vasquez said. “It made sense to do a candle fundraiser because it didn’t only answer our question it answered others.”

Vasquez said these fundraisers are a sign of hope and healing for the future as Tulsa tries to move forward from tragedy.

Half the profits from both companies sales will go to the victims’ families. You can buy the candles on https://secretgardenscandlecompany.com/ and a t-shirt at https://www.mythic.press/
