Norman police said they were investigating a "violent incident" Tuesday evening but later determined it to be a "false call."

Authorities were called to a residence near 36th Avenue Northwest and Buckingham Drive.

The home is located north of Tecumseh Road and west of Interstate 35.

Norman police later described the call as a "false call for service."

No injuries have been reported.

Police issued the following statement to News 9:

NPD responded to report of a violent incident involving multiple fatalities with a suspect awaiting to engage responding officers. Upon arrival officers quickly evaluated the incident and prepared to make entry into the scene if warranted.
Officers were able to secure the area and eventually made contact with the residents.
Officers have determined the original call for service was not valid and no one was injured. There is no indication of danger to the neighborhood or involved residence. Investigation into the incident is ongoing. NPD appreciated the assistance and cooperation of neighborhood residents and visitors who were impacted.

This is a developing story.
