The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced Friday it has arrested a 16-year-old and his mother in connection with the deadly shooting of an Oklahoma City man.
Michael Hall’s body was found off of Highway 77, north of Wynnewood on April 10 in Garvin County.
News 9 is not identifying the 16-year-old suspect because prosecutors charged him as a youthful offender.
The 16-year-old is charged with multiple felonies including first-degree murder and unlawful removal of a dead body. His mother, Heather Collins, is charged with accessory to murder for allegedly helping him dispose of Hall’s body.
The OSBI’s probable cause affidavit said agents connected the 16-year-old to the crime through cell phone data, which showed him travel to Garvin County before Hall’s body was found and through his clothes.
Hall’s body was found covered in a Pokerstars.com jacket, which the suspect was seen wearing in security camera footage agents reviewed from the victim’s home.
The OSBI said the suspect, who is an Oklahoma City-area high school student, told a classmate about the killing. Agents interviewed a student who said the suspect showed them a news article about Hall’s body being discovered.
Referencing the article, the suspect told the classmate, “That guy was my godfather. I offed that (expletive), and bounced back to the city,” according to the probable cause affidavit prepared by OSBI agents.
The suspect told agents that he shot Hall, according to the OSBI affidavit. The motive stemmed from a January incident involving Hall, Collins, and the suspect.
“He was upset over the incident that had occurred in January,” said OSBI Capt. Beth Green.
