Oklahoma City Police Say Robbery Suspect Shot At Officer

A man is accused of shooting at an Oklahoma City police officer overnight just after a reported robbery.

This was near Northwest 122nd and Penn.

Oklahoma City Police said someone flagged down an officer and said they were just robbed.

“The suspect ran and while running (the suspect) turned towards the officer and fired a round at the officer from a firearm. The officer did not return fire and the officer was not struck,” Cpt. Valerie Littlejohn said.

Neighbors said they heard the shot and could see police lights and heard sirens passing by their homes.

“If he's got that much nerve to try and rip somebody off in this area, he's going to hide, doesn't matter how hot it, he's gotta try and protect himself,” Louis Strickland said.

K-9 units were called in along with a police helicopter searching for the suspect.

“We walk in this neighborhood every day and nothing has ever happened like this,” Morgan James said.

“Now, I’m a little scared to go on a walk,” McKenzie James said.

As for the robbery victim, police said he has minor injuries, but he's expected to be okay.

Police have not released any suspect information.
