Del City Recording Studio Finds Itself In The Heart Of The Music & Film Industry

Hidden in the heart of Del City is Castle Row recording studios, and while many Oklahomans may not know about this place, the world has definitely taken notice. 

“The studio itself, I think we’ve been around for almost seven years maybe going on seven years now,” said CAJ, local artist and producer at Castle Row Studios.  

What was originally a movie theater turned record store is now Castle Row Music Studio.  

“It is a music studio, but it is more than just a music studio it is also a post house for film,” said CAJ.  

With a huge movie screen and sound stage big enough for a full orchestra, the movie industry is also taking advantage of the studio.  

“We have the movie scenes play on our big projection screen. And we will play the scene and let the composer watch the scene while they compose the orchestra,” said CAJ.  

Some pretty big-name recording artists have also used the studio.  

“We’ve had Lil Wayne in the building, I think he rented the place out for like four days or something like that. We’ve had Blake Shelton record here before, and then we’ve had guys like Lil Baby, Run the Jewels, Slump God have been here,” said CAJ.  

The artists get a sound from the studio that’s becoming hard to find.  

“This is the SSL nine thousand J series. It is the only one in a three-state radius,” said CAJ  

The studio is also in the process of restoring a legendary sound board. 

“Legends like James Brown and Whitney Houston both sang through that. So, that’s just another cool piece of history in the building that you’re just like, wow,” said CAJ.  

Three studios, some of the best producers in the country and the best equipment. 

“You need top tier recording, from the best in the business you come to Castle Row Studios,” said CAJ.  

Even with the major artists and the film industry flocking to Castle Row, CAJ says there will always be a place for local artists looking to break into the music industry.
