This weekend is the final sugar rush for a longtime Tulsa candy shop.
The owners of Sweet Tooth Candy and Gift Company are retiring, so the store is closing after 30 years.
Candies of all different shapes, colors and flavors line the shelves in the beloved store for the last time.
"It's just kind of heartwarming to know that they enjoy the store so much,” said owner Jeff Darby.
Whether you're craving chocolate truffles or candy that's sweet or sour, you're sure to find it at Sweet Tooth. You can also find things like holiday decor and gifts.
Darby owns the shop with his wife Janet Dundee. He says customers have been stopping in all week to get their last treat fix. But for many, it was about the people behind the counter.
"The biggest thing is the people that we've been able to meet that come in and year after year after year,” Darby said.
Saturday is the last day, and most items are on sale. The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Darby says the past week has been full of stories. He’s heard everything from people following them when they moved locations, to those who came as kids and then brought their kids and grandkids.
"You just don't think about that when you're in business and running around and serving people. But they really do appreciate the fact that we've been here,” Darby said.
Darby says with their extended time, he and Janet plan to explore more of their own city.
He's excited to check out new parks and museums they couldn't see before due to work.
"We just want to thank everyone for supporting us for the last 30 years,” Darby said.
It’s a bittersweet goodbye with memories that go beyond the closing sign.
