One person is dead and two others are injured after a triple shooting in Tahlequah on Labor Day.
FBI investigators say they have one minor and one adult detained in connection with the shooting. One of the injured victims was treated at the hospital and released, while the other remains in an unknown condition, according to authorities. The FBI is working in conjunction with the Tahlequah Police Department and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service on the case because the people involved are tribal citizens.
Tahlequah Public Schools Superintendent Tanya Jones said at least one of the people involved is a student at the high school, but she could not comment on the circumstances. She said that Tahlequah High School students will be in distance learning on Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7 as a precaution.
"We thought it was best until we know all of the pieces of the story to keep everyone on distance learning for the safety of our students and staff,” Jones said.

Jones said there is no direct threat against students or staff, but until they know more, they won’t decide whether or not they should bring students back in person later this week.
“We will work with local law enforcement and just make sure we are making the best decision for the safety of all,” Jones said.
She said there will be counseling resources available for all students and staff if they need to talk to someone about what happened.
“We tend to know everybody that's involved in most of anything and it’s heartbreaking anyone would have to go through something like this and our hearts go out to everybody involved,” Jones said.
