An Owasso High School softball player who lost her grandparents in a horrible crash last week, played in a game this week in their honor.

Every time Addi Drummond hit a home run, her grandpa Joe treated her to a $100 bill.

The money went beyond a reward, because it's worth more than what the eye sees.

“The last couple, I've been saving, but the first few ones, I spent,” Drummond said.

Joe and Priscilla Drummond died after a head-on crash while they were on their way to Addi's game in St. Louis last week.

They were just five minutes from their home, near Skiatook.

"I just want them to remember them for the good people they were, and how they always loved sports and how they always came and watched me play. And they were my biggest supporters,” Drummond said.

Days later, Addi found support from a new source, rooted in tradition.

"And I got up and I had two strikes and two balls, and she threw me a high outside pitch and I hit it and as soon as it left the bat I knew it was gone. I rounded first base and I stuck my hand up in the air, and pointed to heaven,” she said.

That moment, captured by a photographer Cambry Shields, showed Addi's heart in one picture.

After the game, her friend's grandpa, Ward Sherrill, gave Addi a $100 bill.

“And that was just really special for me. I was thankful for him, for doing that for me," Addi said.

Addi's two sisters, Madi and Katie, play softball too. Their grandparents were there for each of their very first home runs.

"It kinda started with my older sister,” Addi said. “When she hit her first home run, my grandparents were the only ones there. My parents weren't there, we weren't there. So he was just like, 'Alright, you hit this so, here's your $100 bill.'"

Addi plans to keep that special home run ball from Tuesday’s game, and the priceless bill, in a shadowbox. A reminder every time she sees it - that grandparents are a treasure.
