Oktoberfest is underway in Tulsa at River West Festival Park. Tulsa Police will have officers patrolling both the inside and outside of the festival.

Organizers are anticipating thousands of people to come out and enjoy the event.

Outside of the festival, dozens of officers will be helping with traffic and surveying parking lots used for shuttles.

“Anytime you’re bringing in thousands of people to a smaller area like this, it’s important to keep the roads free,” said Sgt. Luke Flanagan, Tulsa Police.

There is no parking available at the park or on nearby streets, which officers will strictly enforce. They suggest visitors use a ride share app or one of the free shuttles.

Visitors will go through a checkpoint before entering, which will include a check to make sure nobody has any weapons.

Cameras are also posted around the festival and will be monitored by officers.

Tulsa Police will have stands where officers will be posted.

Anyone who sees something suspicious is encouraged to flag an officer down.
