The City of OKC said they're giving back to someone that gave so much to Oklahoma City.

They said they're dedicating a sculpture at Scissortail Park to Robbie Kienzle, someone who helped emphasize the beauty of Oklahoma City.

It's called Light as a Feather, but it holds a huge weight. The more than six-ton sculpture sitting at the corner of Oklahoma City Boulevard and Robinson Avenue will be dedicated to the late Robbie Kienzle.

“It's this beautiful expression of delicate symbolism of hope and trajectory looking up into the future,” Aubrey McDermid, assistant city manager, said.

This sculpture is just one of Kienzle's many projects. Robbie held many positions with the city, but Aubrey McDermid said it was her passion for uplifting communities that she expressed through art.

“Pretty much everywhere you look around town there might be a little piece of Robbie’s efforts and you may not even realize that it was Robbie Kienzle behind it,” McDermid said.

McDermid said through city programs Kienzle brought color to the city, turning blank walls into an artists' playground. Some of her projects hold great meaning to what Oklahoma City represents.

“The SkyDance Bridge, that was a design competition. It something that people remember about us, identify with us, and I think when people come in to visit Oklahoma City they might not realize why it's a special place but it's probably because we have these things that make our community a special place,” McDermid said.

Many consider Kienzle an amazing Oklahoman who will never be forgotten.

“Not only do we see her everywhere in our community but it makes you think of her and we keep her close to our heart,” McDermid said.
