Severe Weather Moves Out Of Parts Of Oklahoma

Some storms produced heavy rain, wind, and hail in parts of Oklahoma on Monday.

Most of eastern Oklahoma was under a tornado watch until it expired at 10 p.m.

Today is a day to be weather aware. I know it is a holiday, but if you live in central or eastern Oklahoma, please stay alert this afternoon and evening. Today we have more of a spring-like setup. Lows are in the 50s and 60s with highs in 60s and 70s. Gulf moisture increases today and it will feel more like April than January.

Storms are expected to develop after 2:00 p.m. in central Oklahoma. Expecting numerous severe storms to the south and east of the Oklahoma City metro.

The strongest supercells today could produce 70 mph winds, golf ball size hail, and there will be a risk for tornadoes. Keep in mind we will have several rotating storms, but not all rotating storms produce tornadoes.

As the waves of storms roll into far eastern and southeastern OK, they will move into an environment where tornadoes will be more favorable.

Storms clear out of the metro around 6:00 PM and eventually out of eastern OK tonight. Our team will be in all day and our trackers will be out to bring you updates.
