OHP Asking Drivers To Stay Cautious As Road Conditions Remain Hazardous

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is asking drivers to focus on the road as weather conditions make driving more hazardous.

Troopers say when roads are slick--it's more important than ever to put the phone down and focus on the road.

"When it is wet, or when it is slick, you actually need more time to make a decision to slow down," OHP Trooper Eric Foster said.

Foster said texting and driving or being distracted by food, makeup or anything can be as dangerous as drunk driving.

The warning comes amidst OHP's annual distracted driving campaign which ends at the end of January
