In 1915, Oklahoma was less than 10 years old, Woodrow Wilson was the president of the United States, Babe Ruth hit his first home run, and Mildred Lenny or Aunt Millie was born on this day.

“Bread was five cents a loaf,” recalls Lenny, who is celebrating her 108th birthday.

In her time, Lenny has seen a lot of changes, some more significant than others.

“Inside toilet, that was the greatest thing,” said Lenny.

Recalling the days of no indoor plumbing, no air conditioning, and not heaters.

“When it was cold mother, and daddy would wrap our feet in tow sacks.”

As she celebrates her one hundred and eighth birthday Lenny has definitely learned to adapt, even using her cell phone.

“Hey Siri,” said Lenny, giving commands to her cell phone.

As she showed me around her home, I let her in on a little birthday secret, that she was going to be News 9’s Something Good.

“Am I really? Oh my gosh, I wasn’t supposed to be seen,” said Lenny.

A mix of beauty, brains and brawn Lenny survived Spanish flu as a child, has beaten cancer twice, and had a pacemaker installed at 100 years old.

“I don’t believe it, I’m telling you, I’m in awe every day of some of these things,” said Lenny.

With preparations underway for the big birthday celebration, there is one necessity for the big day.

“Oh yes, a nice birthday cake. Big ol’ chocolate cake,” said Lenny.

Tonight she will celebrate with a big dinner surrounded by neighbors and family, some all the way from Kansas
