Bill To Allow Protective Orders For Children Approved By State Senate

A bill aimed to protect child abuse victims passed unanimously in the Oklahoma State Senate.

Senate Bill 291 would allow children and teens to request victim protective orders against their abusers to protect them from future harassment.

Under the measure, an adult would file the order on the child's behalf.

The bill now moves to the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
