Tulsa's Amazon Fulfilment Center opened about over two years ago, impacting jobs and how you get your packages delivered.

The building itself is massive, measuring in at over 2.5 million square feet on all four floors. It also provides jobs to thousands of people all living around the Tulsa area. Roughly 3,000 people work in the Tulsa facility.

"It’s been huge. We have people that are coming from and drive 45 minutes every day just to get to work from the other side of Tulsa," Adam Frandsen, the inbound dock area manager said.

Not only did this facility create jobs here in the Tulsa area, but it also positively impacts our small and medium-sized businesses both near and far.

"It allows small businesses to reach a large mass of customers right? Especially during the pandemic that became even more valuable to people to receive items right away, and so small businesses and states five states away can ship items to people in this area and they can get it quickly," Julia Bitton, an operations manager said.

It's a facility that doesn't really sleep. It and the employees work to get your items out for delivery as quickly as possible all throughout the day.

"There is no downtime really that’s being missed. So each shift is picking up exactly where we left off to continue that fluid motion between each shift to make sure that our customer orders are fulfilled in time," Frandsen said.

This facility also utilizes technology such as robotics to not only make the facility run more efficiently, but it also creates a safer work environment for the employees.

"There's a lot of footsteps put into it. With this, it allowed us to limit that as much as possible, and really think outside the box. Instead of us going to the product and grabbing it, we're letting those come to us so that we can process," Frandsen said.

It's safety that this TUL2 facility prioritizes more than anything. Even though your packages will typically arrive quickly, Tulsa's Amazon Fulfillment center will not sacrifice safety for speed.
