Former State Lawmaker Charged With Manslaughter In 2022 Motorcycle Crash

Eufaula City Councilor Dan Kirby was indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday for a motorcycle wreck last July that killed his passenger.

State Troopers said Kirby smelled of alcohol after he drove off the road and crashed in July of 2022, killing Sheryl Bischel. He has now been charged with manslaughter.

Kirby is a former state lawmaker who resigned in 2016 after he was accused of sexually harassing an aide.
