According to authorities, Mena escaped the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Charles E “Bill” Johnson facility at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
Reviews of the Department of Corrections telephone system revealed that Mena had many conversations with a woman named Michelle Kjeldgaard about traveling to Alva to pick Mena up after he escaped. Kjeldgaard was unable to secure transportation, but Mena decided to escape anyway, according to the affidavit.
After he escaped, Mena allegedly stole a semi-truck, which was recovered in the town of Bryant.
Mena and Kjeldgaard were separately transported to a predetermined meeting place in Oklahoma City, according to the affidavit. Kjeldgaard was in possession of clothing for Mena.
Kjeldgaard is accused of harboring a fugitive from justice.
Authorities ask that if you have information about their whereabouts that you call 911.
