The State Board of Education met Thursday and approved a new rule that would penalize schools for having 'pornographic' books.

Although unanimously approved in the meeting, it still has to go through the Rules Committee in the legislature before reaching Governor Stitt.

It would lower a schools accreditation if they are found with inappropriate books, requiring districts to adopt written policies.

The rule would also require districts to submit, each year, a complete list of books available in that district's libraries.
