If you're planning on doing some spring cleaning soon and you find some old electronics, don't throw them away. Take them to the zoo instead!
It's all part of the Gorillas On The Line cell phone recycling program.
Accepted Devices:
Guests who donate a device will get free admission to the Oklahoma City Zoo to use anytime during 2023.
Stephanie Smith, the lead caretaker of the primates at the zoo, said these recycled electronics help with important conservation efforts.
"There's a substance in cell phones called Coltan that is mined directly in gorilla habitat," she said. "By recycling or even better reusing your old cell phones we can prevent the mining needed directly in their habitat."
Schools, organizations, businesses and individuals are encouraged to collect as many cell phones and electronics as they can in support of gorilla conservation.
This is the 5th year of the national gorillas on the line program, and they've recycled over 42,000 devices.
To get your free ticket, take your device to guest services at the front of the zoo any day from now through April 30.
