As Griffin’s Vice President of Content, Chuck Maulden leads the state’s largest team of journalists in their daily mission to keep Oklahomans safe, informed and entertained. Starting as a photojournalist in 1978, Chuck spent 22 years in the field before being convinced to work in news management. Chuck is incredibly passionate about broadcast journalism and has dedicated his career to bettering the profession and producing premier content for viewers.
Highlights of stories he’s covered during his long career in journalism include coverage of the early political lives of Bill and Hillary Clinton, the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis involving 4 Arkansans, the 1989 Detroit visit of Nelson Mandela, two presidential debates, and the 1996 Olympic Park bombing during 28 days of Olympics coverage. Chuck has reported on numerous other sporting events, notably the 1998 home run race between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, the minor league baseball career of Michael Jordan, as well as two Super Bowls and two World Series. Additionally, he traveled overseas to cover the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami in south Asia.
While Chuck has received countless awards for his work in the media industry, including four regional Emmys, he is most proud of his sixteen regional and one national Edward R. Murrow Awards.
When he is not in the office, Chuck enjoys reading non-fiction books about current events, journalism history and theology. Additionally, he likes to walk, bike and, most importantly, spend time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.
