USGS Reports 4.0 Magnitude Earthquake In Lincoln County

An early-morning earthquake shook parts of the state on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The USGS says the epicenter of the 4.0 magnitude quake was in Lincoln County and it started at 3:57 a.m.

The USGS had initially registered the quake as a 4.2 magnitude in its preliminary report but revised it to a 4.0 magnitude.

The location of the epicenter was 3.1 miles east-southeast of Carney, Oklahoma, 23.2 miles northeast of Choctaw, and 38 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. 

Another 3.3 magnitude quake was detected at 4:16 am near the same area.

Currently, Lincoln Co. Emergency Management Dispatch said there have been no reports of damage.
