The wildfire outbreak that happened earlier this month in Logan County consumed a family's home, leaving nothing but ash and debris. The family is now asking for help from the community.
Now, Patricia Hopkins and her family need volunteers from the community to come out and help them this weekend.
"We were here 32 years. My kids, they went to Guthrie schools all growing up so it was really hard on them," Hopkins said.
More than three decades of memories...
"And then there was my grandmas' dishes that I inherited and only a few of those are left. I don't know if I could go on," Hopkins said.
All reduced to rubble in an instant.
"We thought it was ok until we pulled up to the driveway and this is what we saw...It's just hard to believe," Hopkins said.
A loss you can't explain.
"It is just hard to describe how you feel. It is like a death, my husband said," Hopkins said.
Right now, the couple is in a hotel, but soon they will be out on their own.
"We are hoping to find a travel trailer and be able to bring it out on the property. And then my husband is a paint contractor so we have to replace all of that so we can continue working," Hopkins said.
The family is looking for volunteers this Saturday to help them clean up.
"We need like bobcats with the front loader things to help scoop up the rubble and help put that in the dumpster," Hopkins said.
Any helping hands to come out and assist them in picking up the pieces..
"And then we can move onto the next chapter and there is a church down there that says every new door is a new opportunity and so that is what we are going to look at.. A new opportunity," Hopkins said.
The Hopkins family is hoping volunteers can come out Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help load up rubble to be hauled off.
If you have gloves, shovels or anything that may help feel free to bring that.
If people have heavy equipment they can loan, there are several family members able to operate it. Their address is 10850 S. Pine St. Guthrie, Okla. 73044.
