Claremore Ranch Spreads Joy With 'Hug-A-Highland' Cow Sessions

Cow therapy is what a ranch in Claremore hopes to bring to its customers. The Hug- A-Highland cow sessions give animal lovers a chance to hug, brush, and love on the fluffy cows and people are hoofing it to the sessions.

Inside the green pastures of Lucky R Ranch, people fall udderly in love.

“I did cry last time I was here," said Victoria Crider.

The highland cows are named after classic country superstars. Visitor Victoria Crider loved on Holly Dunn.

Victoria found out about Hug-a-Highland on Facebook. She loves cows but had never been next to one up close, so she booked a session and said it brought a lot of joy to her day.

“I was stressed with family stuff and my job, coming here was great. It was amazing," she said.

“This is a new girl you didn’t get to meet last time, this is Crystal Gayle," said Angie Rash.

Angie has always wanted Highland cattle and decided to offer the one-on-one sessions a year ago after bringing a cow to the carnival. People asked to come visit the ranch and take pictures with the cows.

“It’s all in how you bring them up, all how you socialize them," she said.

Angie said this is a win-win— the people love spending time with the Highlands, and the cows— like Half-Pint– love it too.

“When you quit brushing her she will nudge you. She wants to be brushed," said Angie.

Angie said the 30 minute sessions fill up fast, and running the ranch is hard work, but she’s milking it for all it’s worth.
