More than 70 veterans are headed to Washington DC on Tuesday morning as part of the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight.

The veterans arrived at the Tulsa International Airport by police escort around 7 a.m., then boarded an all-expense paid flight to D.C.

Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight is a nonprofit that takes veterans to visit their War Memorials in the nation's capital.

On this trip is one World War II veteran, six Korean War veterans and 64 that served in the Vietnam War.

Gus Embry Jr. was one of them and says when he returned home from Vietnam 50 years ago, soldiers did not receive the support they do now. He says that's why being part of today's honor flight is so special.

The veterans will return to Oklahoma later on Tuesday evening and people are encouraged to come to the airport to welcome them home.
