A man was killed and another was taken into a custody Monday afternoon after a shooting at Rose State College in Midwest City, police said.
Police were called to campus around the lunch hour after an alert went out from Rose State College.
The college sent an alert at around 12:16 p.m. Monday about an alleged shooter near the humanities building on the south side of the campus mall.
"Everybody's safe. We have one victim, but everybody else is ok," said Midwest City Police Chief Sid Porter.
Rose State has issued the following statement:
"We want to thank the Midwest City Police Department and other first responders for their quick and professional response during today's incedent on campus.
"All classes at Rose State College have been canceled for the remainder of the day (Monday, April 24), as well as tomorrow (Tuesday, April 25). Our top priority at this time is the well-being of our students, faculty and staff.
"We understand that this event has been deeply distressing for our community, and we are currently working to coordinate counseling services for those in need. We will be alerting our students, faculty and staff as soon as those services become available."
