Make-A-Wish said when a wish comes true, it creates hope and happiness for a sick child and those who help make it happen. Those feelings were on display at Berryhill Schools.
It was a special day for sixth grader, David Short. "It feels like I am a very important person," David said.
David is battling Leukemia and his one wish was to go to Disney World.
The students helped welcome him and his family back from his trip with some super cool activities.
"It was really fun to pie people in the face and have all these kids support Make-A-Wish and what they do," David said.
Berryhill High School's student council started a philanthropy week called “BOLD week,” with different activities to help raise money for Make-A-Wish.
Raigen Wegener is the student council president and tells me BOLD stands for Benefiting Other Lives Daily.
"We were so lucky to choose Make-A-Wish and I am so glad we did because we got to grant a wish to the sweetest boy in the world, David. So, I feel like BOLD week was successful," Raigen said.
Raigen said students got to choose the organization they wanted to raise money for. She's happy Make-A-Wish was chosen because it holds a special place in her heart.
"My brother had to have a wish granted and I knew how sweet of a program it was," Raigen said.
Her brother has cancer and his wish was to go to Disney World too.
"I know how much it means to go on a wish trip and how much those little happy moments can affect a person," Raigen said.
The students raised more than $7,000. David is thankful.
"It just feels different because everyone did this for me and I'm not use to that, so it's cool,” David said.
