Moore Community Mourns 18-Year-Old; Police Investigate ‘Suspicious Death’

The Moore community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Madeline Bills after she died earlier this month.

Moore Police said they are still investigating this “suspicious death” that happened on April 22 near Southwest 34th Street and Telephone Road.

Chase Cook, 19, was arrested and taken into custody on Monday in Chicago, Illinois, on a first-degree rape charge, but more charges could be filed once the Medical Examiner’s report is completed.

Maddie would have graduated this month from Moore High School with honors, achieving a 4.0 GPA. 

She is a member of the Osage Tribe and recently signed a letter of intent to play women's basketball at Northeastern A&M in Miami in the fall. 

Parents, friends and coaches have all taken to Facebook to honor her life.

A Moore High School coach wrote, “I will do my best to carry her light to others because others will continue to be impacted by her. 

Her legacy will leave a mark by all of us “choosing to make a difference for Maddie.”

Madeline’s life will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Crossroads Church in Oklahoma City.
