ACLU Announces Lawsuit Against Oklahoma Following Gender-Affirming Surgery Ban

The American Civil Liberties Union announced the organization is taking the State of Oklahoma to court after Gov. Kevin Stitt signed legislation banning gender-affirming surgery for minors.

The group said the law is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

The Fourteenth Amendment says that no state may deny equal protection of the law to any person within its jurisdiction.

Gov. Stitt said he disagrees, and said on Tuesday he was proud to ban the procedures.
