Many people in Green Country say they are noticing some of the trees on their property look dead, without leaves and tree limbs.

Kaden Jackson with Route 66 Tree Service said last year's dry, hot summer is affecting trees in our area even now.

"We had that couple week period where it was just over 100 degrees everyday. That can do a lot to a tree if it's not getting the water it needs," he said.

He said you should be able to tell if there's a dead tree on your property because the bark will begin to separate, and you won't see any leaves.

"The most obvious sign is there's no foliage on the tree, that or you will see major parts of the limbs start losing all of your foliage and become dead and rotten, and very brittle," he said.

He said much of trees' health is up to mother nature, but you can make sure you are trimming your trees and even watering them.

"Just make sure it's properly maintained, and if it's very sensitive to drought, make sure you water it during those long summer weeks where it's just consistent heat," he said.

He said the best thing you can do if you have a dead tree on your property, is get it removed so it doesn't fall and further damage your property.

"It's only a matter of time before that tree decides, alright I'm going to fall," he said.
