A whole lot of laughs are coming all across the Tulsa Arts District as the Blue Whale Comedy tour makes its return.
Derek Combs is the Events Manager at Guthrie Green and he joined News On 6 at 4 p.m. on Wednesday to give us a rundown of the event.
The Blue Whale Comedy Festival is set to return for its ninth year in the Tulsa Arts District, running from August 22-24. The festival, which has grown significantly, will feature over 20 shows spread across seven venues, making it the largest in the event's history.
This year’s headliners include acclaimed comedians Reggie Watts, Michael Longfellow, Beth Stelling, Casey Rocket, Geoffrey Asmus, Irene Tu, Josh Fadem, and Johnny Pemberton. The festival has also attracted over 230 submissions from comics across North America, with a record number of out-of-state performers set to take the stage.
In addition to stand-up comedy, the festival will showcase improv troupes from Nashville, Dallas, New York, and Texas. These groups will perform in two separate showcases at Fly Loft, with a workshop led by the Nashville-based Cherry Bomb troupe.
The festival will also feature various other activities, including trivia, karaoke, happy hours, and after-parties.
Tickets are available now at bluewhalecomedyfestival.com, and organizers encourage early purchases as they are selling quickly.
The Blue Whale Comedy Festival, hosted by Guthrie Green, is the largest comedy festival in the region. Over the years, it has attracted notable comedians such as Nate Bargatze, Janelle James, Nikki Glaser, and Eric Andre.
