Norman Police Investigate Disturbance Near Alcott Middle School

The Norman Police Department is investigating after responding to a disturbance Monday morning near Alcott Middle School.

Norman Police said they placed Alcott Middle School and the nearby Jackson Elementary School on a secure perimeter as a precaution.

Investigators said an Alcott Middle School staff member asked an individual not associated with the school to slow down while driving.

After leaving the area, NPD said, the individual returned to the school and approached the staff member, allegedly directing threats toward the staff member and the school before leaving the area a second time.

The individual was no longer on scene when officers arrived.

No one was injured during the course of the incident.

The secure perimeter at all schools has been lifted, NPD said the incident remains under investigation.
