OSBI Identifies Suspect Killed In Shooting Involving Shawnee Police

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has identified the suspect who was killed in a shooting involving Shawnee Police on Wednesday.

Shawnee Police said they responded to the scene at around 2:19 p.m. near East Farrall Street and South Minnesota Avenue after reports of a man pointing a firearm at vehicles.

Police engaged in contact with Dakota Novotny, 30, who then pointed a firearm at officers before shots were fired.

The OSBI said officers shot and killed Novotny.

An investigation is underway.
