Thousands of Tulsans are waking up without power for a sixth day on Friday morning, but the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) says crews are making progress as they work to restore electricity.
As of Friday morning, more than 30,000 PSO customers are still without power.
Crews are rushing to get power back on for as many people as possible as the summer heat continues. According to PSO, 3,500 workers are in town from around the country to help get power back on.
Starting Friday, Tulsa Police will be providing officers for traffic control around bucket trucks and linemen as they work to help keep crews safe and prevent any crashes.
"Let's keep our heads cool and let's not make bad decisions bad driving decisions remain alert don't be texting on your phone don't be Snapchatting or anything like that as you are moving across and trying to maneuver a vehicle," said TPD Chief Wendell Franklin.
PSO officials say they are still hoping to have everyone's power back on by 5 p.m. on Saturday.
