It’s August, time to come to Jersey Mike’s and get some Cookies for Kids.
Jersey Mike’s is known for piling meats on their sub sandwiches.
“I’m a guy, I like the 13, it’s got five different meats, it’s a sub sandwich,” said Charlie Brown, local owner of 12 Jersey Mike’s restaurants.
However, for the month of August it is all about the amazing cookies.
“One hundred percent of our cookie sales goes to help the Sunbeam Family Services foster programs,” said Brown.
The local partnership was started four years ago and has proven to be beneficial.
“We are so proud to say that $46,000 has been donated just from the sale of cookies,” said Angie Doss, Chief Development and Marketing officer with Sunbeam Family Services.
Last year alone, over $17,000 was donated, putting the pressure on for this year.
“Oh, we’re going to beat that this year,” said Brown.
“That has a huge impact in the lives of the children that are in foster care and our foster families,” said Doss.
Sunbeam provides many resources for foster families; however, it is the kids that have the real challenges.
“A lot of times, maybe a child is leaving the home, and all they have is the clothes on their back,” said Doss.
Making the Cookies for Kids campaign more personal.
“I prefer to work with programs to help kids, I have a soft spot in my heart for kids and kid’s issues,” said Brown.
“Sunbeam is also in need of more foster families so if you or someone you know has ever thought about becoming a foster parent, please contact us,” said Doss.
So, when you come in any of the 12 Jersey Mike’s this month, enjoy a cookie and make a difference in a child’s life.
“Who doesn’t like helping kids, and who doesn’t like a great chocolate chip cookie,” said Brown.
