One more day of well-above-normal temperatures is in the cards for Green Country before the New Year’s holiday brings some winter back to our area!
Yet again, we started the morning off with areas of fog in parts of eastern Oklahoma.

This will transition into some midday cloud cover across northeastern Oklahoma before more sunshine breaks out.
Gusty winds will bring us another big warm-up, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s where we see the most sunshine!
Those strong south winds will switch around to a gusty westerly wind during the afternoon, and eventually, a strong north wind will arrive late overnight as a cold front sweeps into Green Country. That’ll put an end to our recent stretch of well-above-normal temperatures just in time for the New Year’s holiday.
Despite some sunshine on New Year’s Eve, we’ll stay chilly with highs in the mid to upper 40s. If you’ve got plans for New Year’s Eve night, take the big coat with temperatures in the lower 30s at midnight as we ring in 2025!
We’ll get the new year started on a cold note on New Year’s Day Wednesday, with lows in the 20s and highs in the lower to mid-40s as high pressure settles in. Thursday may bring a brief warm-up as high pressure moves east, but more shots of cold air are looming as winter looks to take a much stronger hold over our weather pattern.
From Friday into the weekend, another strong cold front looks to be knocking on our door, and there is at least a slight chance that the front could bring some precipitation along with it as well. You may have already heard a little online chatter about wintry precipitation chances for this upcoming weekend, but this far-out is still far from being determined. We’ll be watching the trends closely for the weekend and we’ll keep you updated as the details become more clear!
