Abnormal Highs For October On Friday And Into The Weekend

We continue with the late Summer heat into Friday and the weekend!

The state needs some rain, but it seems unlikely until a slight chance for showers next week.

What is the weather like in Oklahoma on Friday?

The next couple of days' highs will remain in the 90s, which is not typical for this time of year; we should be closer to 75°.

Overall, it will be a nice day.

Hot weather will build again for the afternoon.

We need rain, but that is nowhere to be seen!

What is the weather like for the rest of the week?

This weekend looks dry and warm!

Some late weekend relief is coming with north winds and cooler temps.

Rain continues to evade the state, but there may be a slight chance next Tuesday.

EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS

-HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.

Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.

No alcohol or caffeine.

If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.

Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.

Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.

Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
