Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma City Mayor Announce New 'Horizons District'

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt announced the city's newest district.

The collaboration between the City, the Chickasaw Nation, the First Americans Museum and the new OKANA Resort is situated just east of I-35 and south of I-40 along the Oklahoma River.

Mayor Holt said the district began with the First Americans Museum, and will soon be joined by the OKANA Resort.

Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby also said the new development will bring new tourism destinations to the city.

"We believe it is important to focus attention on what these two new tourism destinations bring to Oklahoma City," Gov. Anoatubby said. "We expect this marketing collaboration to augment the already significant economic impact of the various hospitality and entertainment venues along the Oklahoma River."

The OKANA Resort is expected to open in 2025.
