Mother Accused Of Attempting To Cover Up Daughter's Death To Protect Son

A metro mother has been arrested, she is accused of attempting to cover up how her daughter died to protect her son. 

Del City Police arrested her son last month, he's been charged with his sister's murder and incest.

Colleen Garde was arrested Tuesday on a complaint of accessory to murder.

New reports reveal police now believe their mother Colleen tried to cover up Heather's death. Police said Colleen lied to them, changing her account of what happened the night of her daughter’s death. 

Last month Del City Police arrested her son Cody Garde, 27. According to police, he was arrested after his mother and another relative rushed his 18-year-old sister Heather to the hospital.

"She was then taken to the hospital where she was deceased," said Del City Police Major Michael Arterbury.

Reports showed the victim had "sustained significant amount of trauma to her head, neck, and face."

When questioned by police, filings revealed Cody told police he and his sister had been involved in a sexual relationship for years, and that their mother knew about it.

According to police Cody said he and his sister were doing drugs together when they walked to a nearby elementary school playground.

"We believe an assault occurred there and probably some sexual activity occurred there," said Arterbury.

According to court filings, Cody told investigators he injected his sister with meth, beat her, then carried her home.

During questioning Colleen allegedly stated " This is not what Heather would have wanted," in reference to Cody being arrested for murder.
