Thieves forced a popular northeast Oklahoma City pizza shop to close for the day. The business on northeast 23rd street near Rhode Island Avenue was broken into overnight.
Police are looking for two, possibly three suspects. They were caught on camera around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday busting out the front door of Eastside Pizza House.
“It’s frustrating you know,” said Jabee Williams, restaurant owner. “It’s upsetting. A minor setback.”
Jabee Williams was out of town when he learned his business was broken into. The security video he must turn over to police for the investigation showed the suspects going straight to the cash register. One of the burglars threw the register on the ground several times to get it opened.
“Whoever it was I hope they got their needs taken care of with the money they got,” said Williams.
Williams opened the restaurant to serve the eastside community. He said the break-in signified a bigger problem than a one-time crime.
“It’s just a reminder of the circumstances that our community is dealing with you know,” said Williams. “For somebody to do that just lets me know there’s a lot of people who are lacking resources and need help.”
Williams had to close the pizza shop for the day to replace the front door and fix the damaged equipment inside.
Williams has an offer for whoever was behind the burglary and said the restaurant will be open on Wednesday.
“Whoever this is, they need money [...] must need a job,” said Williams. “So, come see me. Get a job, that’s what we’re here for.”
There were not any other businesses in that area burglarized. Call the Crime Stoppers tip line with information that could help the investigation at (405) 235-7300.
